Today, my little man went to his school for the first official visit. Day #1 for JK-er's consists of 30 minutes in the classroom doing a treasure hunt. (It was sooooooooooo easy... hahaha).
Charley did really well until we had to go and then he cried because leaving this magical room after only 30 minutes seemed like torture to him.
His backpack is fully 1/2 his size. It makes me laugh every time he puts it on.
He goes back tomorrow morning for 2 1/2 hours. Another warm-up day. We'll see how he does... I'm hopeful that he dives into school with joyous abandon. I'm prepared for the potential issues to arise. His teacher is a veteran of the kindergarten world and I'm thankful for that. He also has 2 teachers in his class, one regular and one ECE which is a big bonus. It's a JK/SK split room, so he'll also have 10 'big kids' in the class with him.
I just wish I could fast-forward a couple months and peek in and see him doing great in the school world. It would make this week much easier to know it was all going to work out fine.
Don't I sound just like a first-time-kid-school-bound mom? Everyone tells me I'll get over it. And quick. Sigh.... Such a big change to our worlds.
Okay. So that was day #1, if you can call a 30 minute treasure hunt 'day one'. Obviously, more to come.
I call this look "nervcited"... exactly half-way between nervous and excited. I know the feeling.
