On the house front

Haven't updated on the state of the house for a while.  Chris is hard, hard, hard at work, tearing down ceilings and dealing with the cellulose insulation that's raining down on him.  He switched out the dumpster for a new one, with the old one weighing over 3 tons (tonnes?).  He's certainly getting his cardio in.  Exposing the ceiling will make it easier to run plumbing, wiring, ducts and re-insulate.  It's a hella lot'o work though.

Chris admires his now bare ceilings.

The ceiling of Sam's room has come down.  Behind the many layers we found knobs.  And tubes.  And they're live.  'Yay' to a future of updated electrical!

Amongst the dust, there are nice bits and pieces, like this dresser we bought at our very first auction.

The den is presenting lots of challenges.  For instance, what to do with the old fireplace?  We want to find a vintage mantle for it, but should we go wood or gas insert?  Convenience vs traditional romance... hmmmmm.

And my kitchen... oh dear.  I promise you, it's going to be the biggest change in the house.  I can't even wait for the day I take possession of that room!

Finally, a nice view up the maid's stairs at the back of the house.  They're steep and bright and wonderful.

I can't even WAIT for this house to feel like mine.  Chris is working like a trooper and managing the other 732 things going on in his life.  I know we're going to blow through our budget and detonate a bomb under our timeline, but when I was over there today taking pictures, I was just as excited about it as the first time I saw it.

It'll be a long winter of progress, but you had better believe I'll be sitting on that side porch come summer, watching the garden grow and drinking my milkshake.  (Of course, I'll have to make it myself.)
