My vision fulfilled

In the olden days, when I would imagine myself as a mother, the two scenes that came to mind were reading to my kids before bed and going to the Christmas concert at my child's school.

I've been reading to the kids for many years, but yesterday I finally got to attend a school Christmas play.

Sigh.

It was too, too cute.  Charley, being Charley, managed to stand out in his own unique way.  You know, by being the kid that made all the parents laugh?

Alright.  There's Charley, with his totally rad retro Peanuts shirt, over on the left.  Okay... he's lined up with the kids.  Not really looking at the crowd, but I'll take it.

Oh no!  Red alert!  He sees me in the crowd and makes a break for it.  Cue all parents laughing as he tears down the aisle.  Cute, if a bit naughty. (Note teacher's look of fear).

Okay, they manage to get him up on stage for the class performance.  I know it looks like maybe he had a prestigious solo, but that was actually him running to the front of the stage and yelling "I can see my dad!".  (Cue more parental laughing).  The poor wee soul in yellow had been given the task of keeping Charley in line, poor thing.  She herded him back to the bench.  Might just hire her in the future...

A cuter bunch I've never seen.  So sweet and earnest.

Chris, and friends Christine and Mike, look on with glee.  20 minutes of hilarity and delight.  Yay!

When I played out these visions in my pre-child mind I'm not sure it was Charley I was imagining, but I'm sure glad he's what I have today.  Yeah, he might be a bit unique and unconventional but he's sure not boring.

Ho ho ho.
