Bounty of the land

Our new place affords me the space for a big ol' garden.  I put in a very ambitious vegetable garden this year.  It's about 40' x 40'.  It is certainly a lot of work, but we're already reaping the rewards.  The raspberries (which were already established by the former owners) are just about ready and the boys ate the first of the carrots and beans today.  Yummy.

It's amazing how kids will eat veggies with gusto if they've had a part in growing them.

I also inherited some very nice plants and trees that have been there a long while.  I think my favourite is the old fashioned rose that is currently heavy-laden with blooms.  I couldn't resist bringing a few branches back to the rental today.  I keep thinking that soon, very soon, they'll be growing right outside the window.  Of my house!!  Where I live!!
