Small town festivities

Sister Sarah lives in a tiny town about 20 minutes north of here.  It's a beautiful place, and today we ventured up for the annual Santa Claus Parade.  Now, I've been a bit of a Grinch about parades in the past, but knowing that the entire community numbers in the hundreds, I figured the parade couldn't be more than about 10 minutes.

Sam and Evy haven't seen each other for a week, so the reunion was complete madness, with the hugging and the kissing and the running and shrieking.   It's out of hand.

 "Santa's watching you, little missy!"

Not exactly sure what happened here.  I can guess though...

After the love-fest, it was time for the big parade!

Because nothing, NOTHING! says Christmas like clowns, canoes, deflated, (menacing) snowmen, lions and beavers.  (Oh my!)

The anticipation was unbearable!  (Thank goodness for candy canes).

At last!:

Tractor Santa!

It just doesn't get better than this, all in under 20 minutes.  Good, good times.  Thanks Mill-billy crew for the invite.  Boys still riding sugar/Santa high.

  1. what's with the canoe?
is that a bison/beaver cross attached to someone's windshield?
why wasn't Sarah's mini in the parade? Seriously, next year you guys should do a float. Mini with crocheted cover anyone?

  2. Ooooh! Like a tea cosy! (But seriously, we got home on Saturday and I vowed to have the mini in the parade next year). I'm thinking with a giant beaver on the roof. (Or a bison/beaver cross). And maybe a canoe.

  3. Mark was wondering if Chris slugged that snowman? That might explain some of the dents...
