This week marks a year since the Haiti earthquake. I lost a lot of sleep during that time, thinking about it, and thinking about the families who had someone missing. It hit closer to home than I would have guessed when Phil's new neighbour was revealed to be one of the victims.
I think about Katie's mom a lot. Katie was an only child and seemed like a wonderful person. I'm sure the void she's left is still huge. I wish her mom strength on what must be a terrible anniversary.
Of course, my words are weak compared to what my husband manages to say. You can read his thoughts in this Walrus piece called 'Aftershock'.
